The Giclee MORNING SUN

Morning Sun may at first recall the technique of Russian artist Egor Ostrov. Нowever, Masha Yankovskaya was inspired by Edward Hopper’s painting of the same title. The artist explains her idea as follows: “I have always perceived the woman in his painting as deeply lonely (as are all of Hopper’s characters), and for some reason I imagine her as a factory worker, as if she has a full day of labor ahead of her. At the same time, Morning Sun has fascinated me for as long as I can remember. What do I hope to achieve with this homage? Perhaps to replace the feeling of loneliness with a sense of self-sufficiency.”
